NEVER FORGET
THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING NEW

Unless you've been there you can only guess at what it's like and even then I doubt you'll be able to get close to the reality of life on the battlefield. Boys become men in a matter of minutes and life turns into death even quicker. No one is truly prepared for the first time under fire and no one ever forgets the hell that comes at you. It never gets easier it just gets familiar and after a while you lose the belief that one day you will return home. That is when it gets to be who you have become. The boy that went off to be the proud soldier has become the hardened warrior who has settled himself into the certainty of what will happen. Those who do return are the dead who still walk and the ghosts they carry will be with them for the rest of their lives. What can you add to that. Well one thing for sure.

NEVER FORGET

The young man pictured above is Dennis M. It is easy to see that he is a Jeff Gordon fan and a NASCAR enthusiast. youngsters like these are the reason that all of us desire to have the right models driving at the premier spot for racing. One day this young man may have the chance to take the seat behind the wheel as Jeff did when he was a young man. Dennis lost his father just over a year ago and it was the result of a crash. Dennis Sr. was idolized by his young son and proved the strength and determination of his young heart when he went on to compete in the event that his dad had been rushing to get too. I can't imagine what went through his mind when he learned that his dad was gone but I will never forget what he said "I can't quit now. This one is for my dad". I wish I could say that was a winning day but it was not yet it was a bigger victory for Dennis than anyone could imagine.
Thanks Jeff for being the kind of guy that a boy like this can look up too.

In The Quiet Of The Night

By Sonny

Little is known of what happened that night

And little was ever said

The facts are that Sam left with the light

We all believed that he’s dead

Yet strange as it seems as I slept last night

I felt myself drifting away

I was content to fade out of sight

But softly I heard someone say

“Ralph” said the voice I knew from before

Yet he can’t be here where I am

Then I realize ‘twas a voice from beyond

The call of my gone, close friend, Sam

Where are you I called as I woke from my sleep

Right here I could hear old Sam say

But I’m sorry my good friend you can’t come here yet

There’s something you must do this day

So I stay for a while but soon I will go

Dear Sam will be coming for me

And I will be found where all folks are bound

In heaven for eternity

ARE DREAMS THE WORK OF LIFE OR LIFE THE WORK OF DREAMS

In the land of dreams we are sometimes led to the reality that is life.

It was early Christmas morning and I lay shaking on the cold wet ground. I knew I had been shaken awake but there was no one there that I could see. Then His voice said “I Am, wake up my son”. I tried with all my might to keep my eyes shut in hopes that HE would leave but it was no use. Still no matter how hard I tried I could not see HIM. HE chuckled as HE said “Do not labor to see me for you know very well who I AM and that to look upon me would cause your earthly demise”.

“Why are you here?” I asked.

“Because you are here in the filth of this world suffering on the day that should be the most blessed day of your life. For years you had searched ME out and were never satisfied with what you found because you were looking for ME in the wrong places. I do not dwell in the houses that men build. I live in the hearts of men who are free and that freedom can only be given but never taken.”

“How can I be worthy of your concern?” I asked.

“Because my SON deemed you worthy when first WE planned your existence”

“Then why, tell me, has my life come to this? I sleep in the mud that man stirs up and suffer in the pain that he causes even though I try to be better than that.”

“WE sent you here for the purpose of making life better for those around you and in order for you to do that you had to know what they are going through. Our Spirit has always been with you and WE often heard your cries but they were never for yourself but always for another”.

“What has changed things” I asked?

“Tonight” HE replied “you called out in your dreams and asked if this could be the night that you could come home. For the first time you said that you were alone here in the flesh and you begged that WE would allow this journey to end. We knew that it was time to reward you by granting your request but first MY SON asked that I grant you this time alone with me and then make this day not the saddest but the gladdest day ever for you. Today you will be blessed from every direction and love will gather you up and hold you in it’s warmth. For the rest of your time here These same people who you cared for will care for you and then WE shall come with our vanguard and take you home”.

“Are you leaving now” I asked?

“I have never left you” HE replied “and never will”.

A dream? Maybe!! I’ll let you decide. I know the answer.

On the night of the conception CHRIST-mas became a reality for all men.

IN HIS LOVE

Ralph

THE SOLDIER
By Ralph Arbitelle
The war did not defeat him but that’s where it all began
Grabbed away his childhood yet not quite is he the man
Battle worn and weary he heads for home once more
The war they sent him into brings him home to what’s in store
The changes are so many the answers all too few
Stress begins to crack the stone “Oh Lord what can he do?”
The years go by his life of fear always at his side
The terror of those faded times he learns he can not hide
And then he knows the truth of all and why it had to be
The soldier that had left these shores did not return you see
He died somewhere on foreign soil and sent this stranger home
To serve out time until the day he’d rest instead of roam
So when you think of what it’s like to struggle through each day
Stand beside someone who dared to be there all the way
Hold up his hand help him to wave his love from in the grave
He may be here but he’s been dead so others he could save
